Dear Friend of the Indiana Society of Washington, D.C.:
On behalf of the board of directors of the Indiana Society, thank you for your loyal support over the years. As you know, our mission is to provide opportunities for Hoosiers – actual and honorary – living and working in Washington to gather in fellowship and celebration of our Indiana roots while representing the best aspects of our state in the nation’s capital. Your enthusiastic participation in the organization’s events – from the Indy 500 Party to the Hog Roast, State Day Party, Inaugural Gala and everything in between – has been critical to our success as a vibrant community of Hoosier “expatriates”, and we look forward to your continued involvement in these activities.
We’d like to make you aware of a change in our dues structure for 2008 and to offer a clarification of the effective date for dues paid in a calendar year. The cost of an annual membership in the Indiana Society will remain $50; however, beginning this year individuals under the age of 30 and over the age of 65 will be charged annual dues of $25.
The benefits of membership include free admission to events throughout the year, and membership is effective for the year in which dues are paid regardless of what month they’re paid. For example, people who paid $50 at the State Day Party in December of 2007 purchased a one-month membership for 2007, whereas those who paid their 2007 dues at the Indy 500 Party in May of last year enjoyed seven months of membership. In other words, the earlier in the year you pay your 2008 dues, the sooner you may take advantage of the benefits of membership.
A list of some of the upcoming events we have planned for this year is enclosed. Information on these and other activities will be forthcoming. In addition, those who pay dues in 2008 will be guaranteed the option of purchasing tickets for the Indiana Society Inaugural Gala to take place on January 19, 2009.
Again, thank you for your continued involvement in the Indiana Society of Washington. We look forward to seeing you this year.
Sincerely,
Ed Pease, President
Indiana Society of Washington, D.C
